Export a STEP file from Onshape

Steps

1. Open the Assembly tabGo to the Assembly tab of the product (exporting a Part Studio gives the parts without their assembly positions).
2. Right-click the tab › Export…Right-click the Assembly tab at the bottom of the window and choose Export…
3. Choose STEPSet Format to STEP. AP242 or AP214 are both fine. Keep the assembly as one file.
4. DownloadChoose Download, then Export. Onshape prepares the file and your browser downloads the .step.

Tips for a better manual

• Instance names in the assembly list become the part names in the manual.
• Suppressed instances are not exported: suppress what you do not want shown.
