Where the file is read
The STEP reader is OpenCascade compiled to WebAssembly, running in a background thread of your browser tab. The file is opened from your disk by the browser, read there, and turned into the 3D view. A copy is kept in your browser's own storage (IndexedDB) so a saved manual reopens without picking the file again; it is not sent anywhere.
What is sent, and when
| Data | Sent? |
|---|---|
| The STEP file, faces, edges, the mesh | Never |
| Part and sub-assembly names, each part's size and position, its long axis | Only when you press "generate steps", to plan the order with an AI model |
| Your saved steps, a small preview picture and the PDF manuals you make | Saved to your account so you can reopen or download them later |
| Manual pages, PDF and animation | Only if you choose to share the manual to the public gallery |
What this means in practice
- Nobody, including us, can download your model from our servers: it is not there.
- If part names are themselves confidential, rename them before exporting the STEP, or skip the AI plan and use the automatic order.
- Clearing the browser's site data removes the local copy; your saved steps stay in your account.
Questions
Which AI service plans the steps?
A language model reached through our API provider. It receives the list described above (names, sizes, positions), not the file.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. Deleting your account from the dashboard removes your manuals, shares and saved steps from our servers.
